I first attended UPwards Tuition when l was in Year 1 and am now in Year 3. Since coming to Upwards Tuition, my English grammar has improved.

When Mr. Philip started tutoring me I began to understand maths on another level. Initially, l felt that l was really good at Maths and did not need any further help. However, Mr. Philip set me extended work beyond what my school has taught me. Next, he assisted me to understand these new topics.

With practice on my behalf, l have made significant improvement in Maths. For instance, l scored 97% in the recent Maths Test, which was the highest in the class.

I am now growing to like the subject. I see Mr. Philip as a good tutor who always keeps calm throughout any problem that gets thrown at him. He has also definitely encouraged me to keep going in Maths, especially when I find it hard.

Not all lessons are about Maths because sometimes Mr. Philip teaches us about having a growth mindset which is useful to know.

My experience with Mr. Philip at UPwards Tuition is before he taught me, I wasn’t really focused on my studies but now I am.

Mr. Philip is really pushing me and encouraging me to see a different side towards Maths. The difference between not having a tutor and now is l was not getting good grades in my baseline tests but now I have a tutor I am able to score 100% in my tests. My teacher in school is even recognising my progress and has classified me under Greater Depth.

The lessons with Mr. Philip are fun but you still learn. My favourite lessons are the interactive ones. I would rate Mr. Philip as ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

I started at UPwards Tuition after failing my first year of sixth form. With the help of the tutors here, I was able to improve my grades from UEDD to AAAB. I don’t think I would have been able to make such a drastic improvement and gotten into my dream university to study Pharmacy had it not been UPwards Tuition.

I am ever so grateful for the immense support I have received from UPwards Tuition as they have really enlightened me on my potential in mathematics. Throughout year 12, I struggled greatly with the different maths concepts and unfortunately led to me getting a less than pleasant grade in my end of year results. However, through the help of tutors like Mr. Philip I was able to get a C grade allowing me to stay on the course for year 13 and hopefully by the end of the academic year and through hard work I will be able to achieve an A with UPwards Tuition.

Mr Philip is an amazing tutor who I would recommend to students. He breaks down complex mathematical concepts into it’s simplest form so that it is understandable at every level. He encourages an ethos of questioning for understanding thereby making the learning environment comfortable so even the shyest of student such as myself is able to highlight confusions to him.
